Job Description

Occupational Therapist – Elderly Care – £36k to £39k + excellent benefits – Central/SW London

This is an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join this amazing private care home / village for the elderly. This is a well known insitute with royal connections, offering a village setting in vast grounds and facilities to its residents, which include lovely gardens, cafe, restaurants, bar, gym, etc. They also offer excellent care facilities and services to its pensioners. The Occupational Therapist will provide a highly skilled level of occupational therapy services to the pensioners, as an autonomous practitioner whilst observing the HCPC Standards of Professional Conduct.


* £36k to £39k + Excellent Benefits

* Permanent, full-time

* Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, or 9:00am to 5:00pm

* Central / SW London


* Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Occupational Therapy & relevant professional registration

* Some experience in a similar role, although open to recent graduates with some experience as well.

* Clinical reasoning and treatment planning within your scope of practice

* Provision of skilled patient centred intervention to meet the identified treatment goals and use established outcome measures to measure effectiveness of intervention.

* Ability to engage and motivate pensioners to engage in therapeutic activities, with a friendly, professional and empathetic manner

* Experience in carrying out a range of cognitive assessments

* Experience of working in a variety of clinical settings

* Must have right to work in the UK


* To manage and be responsible for occupational therapy caseload in an efficient manner; prioritising the caseload as necessary and clinically appropriate

* To undertake comprehensive assessments of pensioners with cognitive impairment, complex physical disabilities and mental health difficulties or who are newly admitted, utilising both standardised and non-standardised assessment tools; continuously monitor pensioners for changing needs and goals

* To provide relevant education to patients, family and staff as appropriate to ensure high quality care

* To work in close collaboration with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and communicate with relevant members of the referrals/treatment plans/pensioner progress/education and discharge. Attend and contribute to internal multidisciplinary meetings

* To assess and manage clinical risk factors with individual pensioners as indicated

* To ensure consent to treatment is gained before each intervention and maintain resident’s privacy, dignity and choice at all times.

* To collate appropriate statistical data in accordance with departmental procedure and to produce reports as requested to capture performance targets and clinical governance

* To oversee the safe and appropriate use of Occupational Therapy equipment by staff and residents, through teaching, training and supervision of practice
