ASAP Start

An outstanding Hospital and Home Tuition service in the borough of Wandsworth is recruiting a 2 dynamic BSL HLTAs to start ASAP. Both positions are full time via the agency initially but could lead to a permanent contract for the right candidate.

This is a highly specialist inpatient provision for Deaf children and young people who are experiencing significant challenges around their wellbeing and mental health. There are 7 beds on the ward.

The successful candidate will become part of a highly collaborative and supportive hospital teaching team, including other teachers of the Deaf and specialist BSL HLTA's. There is comprehensive training and induction package to support new staff in the role and further develop their professional expertise as specialists in deaf education, mental health, and hospital education.

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated professional who is committed to improving the outcomes of hearing-impaired children and young adults.

Through differentiated planning all students will be able to access engaging lessons. You will be committed to supporting the class teacher, working 1:1 and raising teaching and learning standards. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team offering a holistic approach to teaching and learning.

As well as applications from experienced candidates the school are open to receiving CVs from candidates from a mainstream education background. Previous experience with Hearing Impairment and mental health is desirable.

Key Requirements:

BSL Level 2 minimum
Proven track record teaching children with Hearing Impairments and SEND
Flexible and adaptable approach to work
Previous experience in a care or educational setting
DBS check on the update service or willing to complete a new checkThe school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will be required to apply for an Enhanced DBS if your current DBS is not on the update service.
