Job Description
Buildings and Facilities Supervisor
Location: Uxbridge
Salary: £17.18
Duration: ASAP – 3 months (ongoing assignment)
Contract type: Temporary
Adecco are currently recruiting for a Buildings and Facilities Supervisor to join a prestigious university based in Uxbridge.
Roles and responsibilities
Plans service delivery and Supervise/line management of the teams in their area. Fully responsible for the service delivery decision making in regard to areas of responsibility, allocating work to the team across multiple residential areas and allocating resources, sharing knowledge and providing oral and written toolbox talks, instruction, guidance and training, ensuring compliance guidelines are followed as required, ensuring courteous service delivery
Sets and monitors standards for self and plans the day to day work for the teams in their area, ensuring personal familiarity with the relevant equipment and software is maintained
Advises and monitors pricing and all aspects of purchasing and procurement; consulting with staff as required
Engages with University IT systems / department CAFM systems and processes to facilitate the work of the role
Supervise/line management all HR issues and agree overtime and additional hours and sign off on CHIME University IT system
Proactively contributes to the development of new or improved methods / techniques / equipment systems
Monitor and liaises with the wider University and or external contractors / suppliers, builds professional networks and can influence project work and decision making.
Advises students and staff on safe systems of work and techniques and leads on demonstrations ensuring courteous service delivery
Carries out a range of repairs, maintenance and servicing, diagnosing faults and problems. Review tasks in own area looking for improvements; recommends and put in place new ways of working as required.
Adheres to and advises other on H&S policy and procedures and practices with very good knowledge of regulations such as CDM, safe system of works, permit to work, COSHH and Risk Assessment. Takes responsibility for ensuring audits and project level Risk Assessments are completed and up to date
Carries out analysis, interpreting results and recommending conclusions
Ensures record keeping systems are appropriate, up to date and completed
Writes reports and analyses options, presenting results, as appropriate
Undertakes compliance roles such as Fire Marshall, First Aider etc.as required
Recruits, trains and appraises the team, ensuring performance is effective and quality of service and standards meet expectations and actively commits to continuous professional development for self and team. Acting if needed to ensure effective performance
Lead / co-ordinate and participate in the operational activities in support of events, on open Days and other key events for the department
May be required to participate in Emergency response teams / rotas
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required and commensurate with the grade of post
