Job Description

Our client, a leading Multi-National supply chain management company with a unique blend of global logistics and packaging optimization services on offer, are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager, to be based at offices in West London.
Main Purpose of the Role:
* The Business Development Manager is responsible for acquiring freight forwarding business; maintaining existing business and pro-actively penetrate the existing customer base to grow business and relationships within a set region.
* Actively sell the Company’s service portfolio or designated focus area’s to existing and potential customers
* Increase sales and gross profit for the company in general

Business Development Manager’s Duties & Responsibilities:
* Meet set targets/KPI’s; all activities to be entered into the CRM application:
* 5 new quotes per week
* 8 outbound in person/video conference calls per week – Visit/call report to be created, shared internally, and saved in the CRM.
* find & enter 5 qualified sales leads in the CRM per month
* Develop qualified leads for the global business development team through outbound telephone/video/LinkedIn/panjiva contacts (cold/warm/hot leads) and provide the teams with full/accurate prospect information through the CRM.
* Discuss and agree upon with operations/P&L owners any possible service requirements outside the standard service portfolios before offering to customers.
* Continuously research existing & new accounts, identify key players, and generate interest on existing or new products or industry updates.
* Building credible relationships with customers to create, manage and close new business opportunities
* Maintain database/sales funnel with accurate and current customer contact details (same for prospects) in the CRM.
* Responsible for pro-actively communicating and supporting on RFQ’s with the bid team/product owners. Make sure our response is professional, timely and competitive.
* Compare month on month development of existing customers for both the book of business and new customers against budgeted/anticipated sales and GP.
* Attend the weekly/monthly sales meetings/calls and be prepared with a full update on pending inquiries/opportunities.
* Support on possible A/R escalations with customers in the book of business.
* All inquiries and opportunities need to be entered in the CRM and kept up to date daily
* All Meaningful customer communications should be added to an inquiry or opportunity in the CRM. Whether that would be by phone/in person meeting/video conference or email.
To Be Considered:
* Proven experience in the freight forwarding industry, within a sales / business development role.
* Multi-modal knowledge (ocean, air & road)
* Analytical skills.
* Fluency in English both oral and written.
* Excellent communication and training skills
* Self-motivated with good time management skills
* High MS Office skills.
* Service-oriented.
* Ability to work effectively, independently, cross-functionally, and in a team environment
* A high level of energy with a "can-do" positive attitude and entrepreneurial spirit
