Job Description

This contractor has been established near on 50 years, and so has a great and well known name in the London enabling works/demolition sector. It’s fair to say they’ve drifted for a number of years recently, however, a new Managing Director has landed who has the strategy and desire to restore the business to it’s former glory. They are now looking to recruit a Demolition/Enabling Works Contracts Manager.

The key to any success these days, particularly in the construction industry, is having the right team. The strength of this company’s name will mean opportunities aplenty, however that’s only good if you have teams that can deliver. What it does mean though is that if they can get this right, the opportunity could be huge. It won’t take long for this growth to start if they start to put together a winning team. It’s not just the senior leadership team, it’s creating an environment to attract people at all levels.

Firstly though, the plan is to appoint a Contracts Manager. There’s already one Contracts Manager, so this appointment together with the MD, will make a three strong leadership team. This will be the cornerstone of the company to grow and develop alongside their strategic plan.

If you come from an enabling works or demolition background, that would be a huge benefit. However if you’ve worked in the civils or construction sector, and you fancy a new, fresh challenge, I’d be keen to hear from you. Equally, you might be a seasoned Project Manager who’s ready to step up into a Contracts Manager role. The key criteria is attitude and desire. Excellent communication skills is a must to build strong relationships with their clients. Strong, clear leadership is also a pre-requisite for this to work. It’s about building teams, so a lead by example approach is crucial.

As mentioned earlier, the personal career opportunity could be very exciting. The plan is to get this contractor back on the map, so to speak, and they’ll achieve this if they’re able to deliver a fantastic service to their clients – delivering projects on time and budget, with care for the environment and excellent planning, will ensure lots of repeat business. At the moment they take on projects up to £3m, but this would naturally rise as the business develops
