The Decarbonisation business provides end-to-end solutions for customers across all sectors to help them design, deliver and optimise initiatives to reach net zero.
As part of this team, the Plan Zero Consulting & Advisory team is focused on the initial stage of a client's decarbonisation journey, supporting them through creation of net zero strategies and pathways, carbon transition plans and with broader sustainability advice. The team is comprised of consultants and experts in the fields of green energy, the built environment, transport, waste and biodiversity.
The role will support the team create net zero pathways for customers by developing technical decarbonisation solutions for identified opportunities, through undertaking of detailed surveys, options appraisals and feasibility studies. The role will work as part of the pool of resource in the Consulting team, working across all type of clients in all sectors and covering all technologies.
What will you do day to day?
You will be responsible for the development and delivery of energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects within the commercial / industrial / retail estate/ healthcare/ education/ local government and central government environments; helping our customers to meet their decarbonisation commitments through the execution of net zero strategies, by focusing on the identification of initiatives to reduce and optimise energy consumption, remove fossil fuels from their operations and establish phasing to achieve this.
You will be working with the end goal to deliver projects to customers through a variety of mechanisms, to agreed budgets and timescales, and which may be measured both in terms of financial and energy benefits.
As part of the role, you can be expected to:
Carry out desk top analysis to pre-select the most suitable sites to survey and target improvement strategies.
Be capable of carrying out in-depth on-site energy surveys and produce supporting calculations, reports and proposals (manage others to execute the process – unsupervised detailed assessments).
Technical depth to develop projects from survey report recommendations into viable solutions at concept design stage.
Experience of carrying out detailed options appraisals and feasibility studies to enable projects to move into the design stages
Develop and implement new cost saving or energy opportunities (procedures / processes) where required.
Provide guidance and support to identify new areas of opportunity for business growth and energy saving – new ECM's.
Maintain a proactive interest in new and developing technologies and products related to decarbonisation.
Be able to maintain records and evidence to comply with audit / accreditations associated with energy performance contracts.
Engage and collaborate with the team for knowledge growth and to develop best practice.
Be competent in preparing detailed site-specific solutions where the principles can be deployed across a larger estate. (Specifications / plans / timings, business cases, reports, project proposals etc).

Qualifications
Preferably a university degree in a relevant field or equivalent
Competency demonstrated by a formal technical qualification combined with good education standards/industry experience and knowledge.
Experience & Skills
Good communication and presentation skills.
Professional outlook and behaviours; an ambassador for the business.
Computer literate.
Pro-active.
Ability to deliver and implement energy solutions by management and optimisation.
Background in M&E Building Services / design with mechanical or electrical energy bias.
Financially aware, numerate, and commercially minded.
Logical with the ability to influence by putting forward strong business cases.
People management skills – be able to motivate/manage within cross-functional relationships.
Competent to maintain the company and client H&S standards.
Customer focused and aware.(internal and external customers)
Show leadership skills and take responsibility/ownership for delivery against targets.
