Job Description

Digital Product Manager | London hybrid working
Our client, a leader within the rail industry, is embarking on the next phase of their transformation.
As Digital Product Manager you’ll be responsible for building and delivering a compelling product roadmap and vision for in-station ticket vending machines (TVMs), retail software and hardware within our client’s travel centres and contact centre, and any other of our client’s retail or related digital products used by their station staff and customers. This role will be 50% office based in either London or York.
The successful candidate will
You’ll lead on the development of mobile-first digital products with a focus on digital retail, utilising your ability to build out and deliver on a compelling product vision and roadmap. You can expect your responsibilities to also include:
* Product ownership – the ability to take the lead on digital product feature development in the delivery phase of projects, prioritising features according to customer and business need
* A passion for championing the customer throughout the journey with a thorough grounding in user-centred design principles
* Excellent communication at all levels, with the ability to communicate complex concepts, product visions and business cases to stakeholders to gain buy in
* Strong stakeholder management – the post holder must be able to build positive, long-lasting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (within the business and at industry level) with effective influencing and negotiating skills
* The ability to manage multiple projects confidently and effectively, ensuring they deliver to time, budget and scope
* Supplier management, ensuring suppliers are procured, contracted, and managed in-life to deliver maximum value at pace
Our client is looking for
* Demonstrable and extensive experience in the design and build of mobile-first digital products, using Agile methodology, with a focus on digital retail and in-journey experience
* Retail and/or Rail sector experience would be advantageous
* Naturally collaborative, comfortable working in a fast-paced digital product environment
* Excellent communicator, able to build positive, long-lasting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders with effective influencing and negotiating skills ideally including Trade Unions
* Experience in leading and managing a team, able to set effective objectives
* Experience of managing multiple digital projects with significant (£500k+) budgets and delivering on time and on budget to the required scope
* Strong business acumen with sound numeracy, analytical and commercial negotiation skills
* Excellent ability to manage stakeholders and communicate and influence at all levels to gain buy-in for projects
* In tune with current industry practices, particularly regarding retail technology in the transport sector, and keen interest in emerging technologies
* Demonstrable negotiation and supplier management skills
* Evidence of experience in rail retail standards (desirable)
