Job Description

Peabody has an exciting opportunity for an Environment Caretaker on a full time, permanent basis at our Fish Island in Fish Island, London. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,500 per annum.

As our Environment Caretaker, you will be responsible for cleaning communal internal (including nurseries, TA Halls, community centres etc.) and external areas in line with the agreed schedule, targets and priorities.

What we're looking for in our Environment Caretaker:

Experience in caretaking services 

Knowledge of Health and Safety 

Experience in customer service 

Knowledge of IT systems 

Full UK Driving Licence (Desirable)

What you can expect to be doing as our Environment Caretaker:

Removing refuse bags and household items from hopper head areas, outside refuse chambers and other communal areas

Cleaning overspill from refuse collection

Changing paladin bins under refuse chute as necessary

Cleaning estate signs and low-level light bollards as necessary

Clearing blocked rubbish chutes

Cleaning internal & external glass (where accessible)

Removing graffiti

Removing and storing (as appropriate) bulk rubbish in designated area

Where necessary, making safe, broken windows/doors etc, pending repair by Maintenance staff

Clearing gutters, drain covers and hopper heads

Where appropriate, unblocking drains, including kitchen drains (external to properties)

Reporting any estate defects, fly-tipping or anti-social behaviour to the appropriate authorities

Checking communal lighting/timers and reporting blown bulbs as necessary, (including office light bulbs) and emergency testing monthly

Inspecting and recording playareas weekly

Securing estate gates and doors where appropriate

Where Fire Brigade keys are not fitted, assisting contractors etc. with access to intake cupboards

Advising Team Manager/Supervisor of equipment to be ordered

Ensuring stores and equipment are secure and accounted for

Delivering Trust letters, circulars etc as appropriate to residents’ properties

Actively engaging and participating in regular scheduled one 2 one meetings with Team Manager/Supervisor
