Job Description
JOB TITLE: Internal Communications Manager
LOCATION: 210 Pentonville Road, London N1 9JY / Kingswood House, Cannock WS11 8JB
HYBRID WORKING: Yes – minimum of 2 office days per week
SALARY: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE)
EBS: Yes (17.5%)
PREFERRED START: 13 February – 6 March 2023
At Veolia, we see the world as a precious place to protect. A planet in need of ecological transformation to both utilise and preserve our scarce natural resources. But we also see a world of opportunity, crying out for innovators to lead us towards a more sustainable future.
When you see the world as we do, you understand what we can achieve together. Above all, you see the important role you can play in securing a brighter tomorrow.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Internal Communications Manager to join our UK and Ireland team. If you're an experienced communicator looking for a new challenge, this could be your chance to help shape our planet's future.
What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, you will oversee major campaigns, help to evolve our current internal channels and practices, and develop junior colleagues into the communications leaders of tomorrow!
Your work will be both strategic and tactical, encompassing project planning, communication strategy, measuring outcomes, drafting leadership messages, masterminding video content and so much more.
But we want an innovator as well as a communicator to engage and excite our people. With so much technical information to share with our people, you'll need to be able to inject vitality into each and every message you create to make them engaging and inspirational.
You'll also have to really enjoy getting to know our people, because they will be your customers. Networking and maintaining relationships with colleagues will be a priority; and as the gatekeeper of our communication channels, you will need to be able to get to the 'why' of each message we deliver.
But it's not all about copywriting, conversations and camera angles. Numbers are crucial to our communications, too. An understanding of how to analyse the success of our messages and what our metrics tell us for future communications is critical.
Delivering all of this means you'll be a self-starter; you'll need to manage your own workload while keeping an eye on your direct reports' projects. But you'll be part of a phenomenally supportive team. One that cares about you, your wellbeing and your development. Whatever we take on, we do it together.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
Significant experience in communication roles (preferably with some internal experience)
Confident command of English language (both written and verbal)
Line management experience (preferably with multiple reports)
Proven ability to collaborate, advise and influence stakeholders at all levels
A creative approach to problem solving and message delivery
Relevant degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field, such as communications, media, English or journalism
Experience delivering messages to a dispersed workforce or audience.
Desirable:
Experience with the LumApps intranet platform
Confident using Google office applications (Veolia is an all Google business!)
Experience in a large, complex organisation, ideally with employees dispersed nationally and internationally
Familiarity with coding for intranets or websites
Experience operating high quality camera equipment to capture content.
Our promise to you
Here at Veolia, we know that a genuinely good role goes both ways. So, alongside your salary, you'll get 25 days' holiday each year and an extensive benefits package. This includes our market-leading pension, the chance to buy Veolia shares each year and a range of employee discounts. Also to help you further, we can provide mental health and financial support, so you can lean on us whenever you need to.
Apply today, so we can make a difference for generations to come.
We want to ensure that you feel supported throughout the application process. So we will provide reasonable adjustments where necessary and as requested. If you require any reasonable adjustments as part of your application and interview process, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Here at Veolia, we're proud to be known as an equal opportunities employer. We know how important it is to be fully committed to building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive place to work for every one of our colleagues. So no matter their age, gender, gender expression, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, belief, sexuality or veteran status, every applicant who meets the minimum requirements will be considered fully
