Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Thomas Murray helps our clients to achieve better compliance and risk management through its three divisions of Data, Monitoring & Analytics, Regulatory Solutions and Technologies. We are a team of c.100 analysts, consultants and technologists, based in London with a presence in Colombia, Turkey and Australia. Thomas Murray people come from a variety of backgrounds, including rating agencies, investment banks, custodian banks, accounting firms, broker dealers and, of course, our graduates.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills of maintaining and setting up physical IT hardware. The role is to support and further develop Thomas Murray IT infrastructure which is predominantly on-premise (non-cloud), actively participate in troubleshooting, suggest possible solutions and ways to improve its operation. You will be involved in setting up backup solutions, configuring cluster, fine-tuning virtualisation and associated storages and networks, and physical maintenance of server racks.
Typical working day is 09:00 AM – 05:30 PM with 1 hr lunch break. There will be occasional need for physical presence at the data centres in Canary Wharf, London or East Kent. If covering the IT Helpdesk, the shift may be brought forward to 08:00 AM – 04:30 PM or pushed back to 10:00 AM – 06:30 PM. When necessary, the role assumes out-of-hours availability, e.g. in case of emergency maintenance or scheduled software or hardware upgrades.
IT Infrastructure Support Engineer will also help filling in clients’ and audit Due Diligence Questionnaire (DDQs), review IT policies, and occasionally support IT Helpdesk (up to 10-15% of overall working time).
KEY SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role assumes strong working knowledge of:
* Ubuntu Server OS;
* Layer 2/3 Technology (VLAN);
* Virtualisation (VMWare);
* SAN technologies;
* Firewalls (ASA & SRX);
* Windows Server OS (20xx);
* Exchange Server;
* Occasional support of the IT Helpdesk Team (up to 10-15% of overall working time)if the permanent member of the Helpdesk is on vacation or is not available for any other reason;
* Help filling in clients’ and audit DDQs in relation to IT Infrastructure (network security, backups, etc.);
* Help with review of company’s IT policies.
Desirable but non-Essential
* Virtualisation (XEN);
* Systems Management and Monitoring (Nagios / Zabbix);
* Backup Solutions (Tape / Veeam);
* Documenting Changes to the Infrastructure (Visio);
* Cisco Switches;
* Microsoft 365 services ( Office / SharePoint )

* Understanding of Data Classification and Handling Practices
