Job Description – DevOps Principal Consultant

My client, a leading managed security services provider is looking to hire a new Senior DevOps Consultant, a premier Security Consultancy with a proven track record of delivering security services to a number of FTSE 100 companies. We have established relationships with market leading technology vendors in Cyber Security and Big Data analytics space.

Job Description
A Principal Consultant is a leader and wears many hats, you're not only technically credible across a wide range of technologies, practices and disciplines, but you are also the translation engine for our customers. You actively listen and engage with stakeholders to understand their business problem or outcome and mapping that back to the technical solution that will deliver on those outcomes. A successful principal consultant has technical depth across the DevOps and Security Spectrum with solid SRE principles and observability understanding along with leading and advising C-level executives, and evangelizing solutions.


* Engaging with technical and business stakeholders to demonstrate the business benefit and value of the company's services.
* Architecting solutions, turn customer requirements into scope, scope and requirements into design and also help us land how it architectural fits into the tooling (devops) and the operations/support side.
* Researching industry trends, providing strategic direction and advice in tools, technologies, partnerships, and accreditations to maintain a competitive advantage.
* Defining technology roadmaps and managing a team of engineers during the implementation
* Implementing SRE principles and building observability platform reducing errors and availability of our clients applications.
* Defining and implementing full end to end release management and automation solutions using open source and industry leading tools for continuous integration, continuous deployment and continuous delivery.
* Recommending appropriate hosting and infrastructure solutions based on technology stack and other influencing factors.
* Delivering coaching and training in design, build, and test automation, tooling and DevOps engineering processes to both clients, teams, and individuals.


* 10 years of experience working in DevOps/Security culture
* Minimum 3 year of consulting experience.
* Thorough understanding of DevOps CI/CD with SRE principles

* A thought-leader through internal, client and industry engagement, blogging and speaking at events, with the ability to inspire and lead with genuine passion for technology and best practice.
* Have a wealth of experience planning, building and leading large-scale transformation, DevOps and SRE and testing projects or programmes.
* Security architecture – creating secure designs for solutions, and the delivery of architectural reviews.
* Expertise and preferably certifications in the latest tools and technologies such as: Azure, AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Puppet, Chef etc and a deep understanding of software languages and an appreciation of modern development languages such as Python, Java, C#.
* Extensive experience in observability tools such as X-Ray, App Insights, Splunk ITSI, Datadog, Sumlogic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace.
* Be an evangelist of secure by design and DevSecOps methodologies and principles.
* Experience of coaching and training teams in optimising software engineering and end to end delivery.
* Have a customer-centric attitude, with extensive experience working in a client-facing environment.
* Define standards documentation related to security processes, procedures and infrastructure.


* Solid communication skills and expertise to translate technical jargon into business familiar language.
* Able to quickly understand and interpret customer problems and navigate complex organisations.
* Adaptable, able to quickly switch between projects, demands and environments.
* Self-motivated and self-educating, yet willing and able to work collaboratively with both customers and fellow consultants.
* Well organized with a healthy sense of urgency, able to set; communicate; and meet aggressive deadlines with competing priorities.


* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, Agile, competitive environment.
* Ability to work independently and in group environments.
* Multilingual.
* Ability & flexibility to travel within EMEA
