GlobalData Public Sector covers the £18bn market for technology and telecoms in the UK and Ireland public sectors. Through our intelligence centre, we provide data, research and insight to our clients, most leading ICT suppliers working within the public sector and beyond.

As a data specialist in our team, you will be responsible for collecting, cleansing, modelling and analyzing large quantities of open data provided by public sector organizations to identify opportunities for our clients. You will support our existing coverage, but also our expansion into new geographic areas and vertical markets, which will present opportunities for progression. You will also spend time developing new ways to showcase our data and insight with our clients, working with other analysts within the team.

As a minimum, you will need to have a numerate or statistical degree, advanced Excel skills and knowledge of using Python for data analysis. We will also consider those with less experience if you can demonstrate strong skills and potential. You will be part of a small friendly team, who work remotely with regular meetings in the London office or online.

Responsibilities

Maintaining and improving existing data collection processes

Identifying new data sources and building data collection processes

Data modelling to produce market sizing and forecasts

Assisting with the production of research and analysis

Working with consultants to deliver bespoke data for clients

Skills

Essential:

A degree in a numerate or statistical subject (e.g. computing, engineering, math's, sciences, social sciences), or demonstrable experience of similar

Experience of using Python for data wrangling and modelling

Advanced Excel skills (e.g. extensive knowledge of formulas, VBA, etc.)

Ability to communicate well while working remotely, with our team and clients

Ability to work independently and problem-solve

Strong attention to detail

Keen to develop existing skills and learn new skills (see desirable skills)

Desirable:

Experience of market sizing and forecasting

Experience of using web scraping with Python to collect data

Experience of using machine learning with Python

Experience of using XML and JSON data

Knowledge of technology and telecoms products and services

Knowledge of public sector structure and procurement
