Job Description

My Client is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer in the Water Sector

Location: London office or working from home

Purpose: To work alongside our other Electrical Engineers on the design, specification and procurement in UK. The role may also involve work on some international projects (mainly in the Middle East, though this role is based in the UK).
Scope: Working with the other Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, CAD Engineers and other engineers, applying knowledge and experience of water industry good practice to adapt and develop our existing designs to provide safe, economical and robust designs and layouts. Prioritising workload to meet deadlines set by the Project Engineers. Liaising with suppliers and fabricators (remotely and at their premises) to ensure the assembly process is completed efficiently and on time. Assisting with troubleshooting on sites, reporting any lessons learned and adapting procedures to eliminate inefficiencies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Working with Process, Electrical and CAD Engineers to develop detailed designs, drawings and specifications for construction, procurement, fabrication and assembly.
Using templates and previous drawings and specifications to reduce costs by adapting previous designs to different sites and client requirements.
Developing pump, blower, valve and other schedules and datasheets and liaising with suppliers for the procurement of these items.
Liaison with suppliers and others to accurately integrate equipment into the design
Attending regular meetings with team members and/or client personnel, either in person or via videoconference
Attending UK fabrication facilities and sites to support inspection and installation activities and to seek critical feedback on designs.
Liaison with clients, subcontractors and other designers to optimise design.
Develop and apply a detailed knowledge of relevant water industry and client specifications and standards, as well as British, European and ISO standards.

Experience and Qualifications:

degree in Electrical Engineering and experience in the water industry
Ideally a Chartered Mechanical Engineer
Able to work quickly and efficiently on multiple concurrent projects, meeting deadlines for design deliverables
Must be articulate with good communication skills, able to express ideas and concepts to others and to work effectively from home or office, liaising effectively with design engineers and others.
Must be able to travel to UK sites, supply chain partners and offices, as well as potentially suppliers and clients in Europe and the Middle East.
Must have a good understanding of UK health and safety regulations and good practices in the design of wastewater (and water) treatment facilities, and the ability to identify and apply them in practice
