About the role
Haringey’s Temporary Accommodation Service are looking for two TA Occupancy and Compliance Officers on a six month contract to manage the quality and occupancy of temporary accommodation secured for Haringey clients.
The main aspects of the role include:
Effective and efficient inspection of temporary accommodation ,
Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirement and monitoring standards of repairs and maintenance
Noting complaints, requests for transfer and acting on safeguarding concerns
The Contracts and Procurement team is based within Haringey’s Temporary Accommodation Service. The Service is responsible for the procurement of properties used as temporary accommodation for homeless households and for managing the relationships and contracts we have with temporary accommodation providers, ensuring that a sufficient supply of good quality and reasonably priced accommodation is available. The service also directly manage some types of temporary accommodation.

You will hold a Diploma, HNC, BSc or MSc in Environmental Health, along with EHRB registration or a CIEH accredited alternative, be educated to degree level standard or equivalent or possess demonstrable suitable experience, with a good knowledge of building safety maintenance and repair compliance, legislation and regulations. A sound knowledge of Landlord and Tenant legislation and best practice and experience of liaising with Environmental Health Officers is also required.
You will be able to demonstrate that you have experience delivering a quality service within a pressurised and high-profile environment within a multi-disciplinary team and of the effective strategies available in the management of abandonment and unauthorised occupation, supported by practical experience of working with diverse and vulnerable clients in a housing/homelessness setting
